This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, others will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else. And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you. Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift! (2 Corinthians 9:12-15 NIV)

This is a wonderful passage of scripture. It struck me as a message for those who serve and don't see the fruits of their labor. Serving others, obviously, helps those you serve. Serving also has other outcomes that we just don't think about. Here are my thoughts on some of the results of our service:

1. It is a way to give thanks to God. I know I always think of giving thanks verbally. But, you can directly thank God by serving others. We should not just focus on the results. We also need to give thanks to our Creator by serving others!

2. Because you are sharing the gospel in obedience to Christ command, others will praise God. Just think about that. My actions could be causing other Christians to Praise God. Wow! That is so awesome.

3. People will see Gods grace in you and they will pray prayers of great rejoicing. You can urge others to keep fighting the fight.

I am a servant in the Christian Motorcyclist Association. We spread the gospel in some really rough places. Many times I/we get the feeling we are not making an impact for Christ. If we're not directly seeing lives turned to Christ, we are not doing our job. This verse points to a greater picture. Serving the lost can also greatly influence the lives of the saved. Sure we want to plant seeds and see the harvest. Sometimes by serving the lost, we are also serving the harvesters. We are not called to neglect the saved in pursuit of the lost.

Praise God for servants that are relentless searching for the lost. Praise God he uses all of us in ways we can not comprehend. Dear Lord, speak to hearts of those who do not see their value in the kingdom. Help them Lord, to see their place and rejoice in serving you, the one true God!
