Awful and Wonderful

“He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.” (1 Peter 2:24 NIV)

It's nearing Easter and my thoughts are turning toward this wonderful day of celebration. At the very same time it is also a horrible day. That Friday the Son of God was brutally crucified for me. He was whipped, framed with a crown of thorns, and nailed to the cross to die the death of a criminal. He did it because we are all sinners and wanted to bring us to righteousness.  Three days later he overcame that sin, death, and rose from the grave.

Words can not describe the hopelessness of that Friday and the eternal  joy of Sunday morning. Praise God for his sacrifice for us!
