Who's to blame?

Psalm 21 (New International Version, ©2011)
 1 The king rejoices in your strength, LORD.
   How great is his joy in the victories you give!

 2 You have granted him his heart’s desire
   and have not withheld the request of his lips.[b]
3 You came to greet him with rich blessings
   and placed a crown of pure gold on his head.
4 He asked you for life, and you gave it to him—
   length of days, for ever and ever.
5 Through the victories you gave, his glory is great;
   you have bestowed on him splendor and majesty.

I hate it when someone wrongfully takes credit for something. I get people that come up to me and congratulate me when our basketball team wins. I can assure you I do not deserve the credit. They made the shots. They got the rebounds or steals or made the free throws. I can't take credit when they win or lose. There is an old athletic director saying, "when the team wins, it's because of the players. When a team loses it's because of coaching."
David had it right in this Psalm! None of his victories were because of him. God is the reason for his victories. We should be the same way. God is in control of our lives, we asked him to. So why do we take the credit when things are great and blame God when there not? God deserves all the glorY, honor and praise. We don't!

Dear Lord, forgive us our arrogance. Forgive us for not praising you for every victory. Thank you for loving us anyway! Amen!
