Psalm 82 (New International Version, ©2011)
A psalm of Asaph. 1 God presides in the great assembly;
he renders judgment among the “gods”:
2 “How long will you[a] defend the unjust
and show partiality to the wicked?[b]
3 Defend the weak and the fatherless;
uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.
4 Rescue the weak and the needy;
deliver them from the hand of the wicked.
5 “The ‘gods’ know nothing, they understand nothing.
They walk about in darkness;
all the foundations of the earth are shaken.
6 “I said, ‘You are “gods”;
you are all sons of the Most High.’
7 But you will die like mere mortals;
you will fall like every other ruler.”
8 Rise up, O God, judge the earth,
for all the nations are your inheritance.
SO many people misinterpret these verses. We are not GOD! If you learn anything about the Bible, you need to learn some of the rules of the printing. #1 UPPER CASE "G" is God. lower case "g" used in gods is not GOD. "gods" are nothing. They have no power. They are made by us. There is only ONE GOD! Nothing else can be said. God was not created. He was, and is, and is to come. Without God we will perish. All that we create will perish. God will never perish and he gives us the opportunity to live forever ONLY through him.
The gods or the idols we create are weak and needy. We/ They can do nothing in-and-of-themselves. Their illusion of Power is fleeting.
My God is the creator of the universe. God is the Light. He is the way. He is the truth. My God loves me when I don't deserve it. My God is GOD!
