3 Days!

Acts 9

Saul’s Conversion
1 Meanwhile, Saul was still breathing out murderous threats against the Lord’s disciples. He went to the high priest 2 and asked him for letters to the synagogues in Damascus, so that if he found any there who belonged to the Way, whether men or women, he might take them as prisoners to Jerusalem. 3 As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. 4 He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?”
5 “Who are you, Lord?” Saul asked.
“I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,” he replied. 6 “Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”
7 The men traveling with Saul stood there speechless; they heard the sound but did not see anyone. 8 Saul got up from the ground, but when he opened his eyes he could see nothing. So they led him by the hand into Damascus. 9 For three days he was blind, and did not eat or drink anything.

This is my absolute most favorite story in the Bible. I have always been so fascinated with Paul. I have mentioned this in the past. His conversion is amazing. But, I have always been so curious about what happened in the 3 days after his encounter with the Lord. We know how he went blind and we know about his healing. But, we don't know much about the days in between. So, How would you react to being stricken blind? Paul knew what had happened to him and we do find our in a couple of verses that he was praying. We also know he had a vision of Ananias coming to his rescue.

I believe that directly after the events on the Road to Damascus, God began to prepare Paul for his ministry. Paul was a very smart man and had great knowledge of scripture. Even being blind I am sure he began to search the scriptures. I am sure he racked his brains reviewing what happened. He argued, battled, and quizzed the maker of Heaven and Earth. I'm sure God spoke to him. He was convinced to change his perspective. God took away his sight, but opened his eyes to the true meaning of scripture. Paul was at the lowest point of his life and yet God was working. God is always at work in our lives. Even when we are weak and all hope is gone. God is at work. His plan is in motion. Paul prayed to God. He saw visions from God. He was healed. He went out to fulfill Gods plan. God changed Paul in 3 days. I bet if we opened ourselves up to God for 3 days, he would change us too! God wants your attention. He wants 3 days of your focus. He will speak to you. He will bless you. He will heal you! Try it! you never know how God will use you.
