“Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed. Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.”
Psalm 82:3-4 NIV. http://bible.com/111/psa.82.3-4.niv
I love my kids at school. This is a crazy time of the year in education. Awards ceremonies, prom, graduation and a multitude of other activities fill the calendar in May. It's a whirlwind month before the peace and bliss of the summer vacation. We have a little over a week of school left for the year. I'm already missing my kids. My kids are not always the best and brightest. They are not all headed to college and most struggle with the difficult tasks they master at the end of the year. I get to teach many, nearly 30, at risk students, students that fall between the cracks in school and I am so proud of their accomplishments this year. Many don't have great families, struggle with financial resources, or are disadvantaged in so many other ways. That is exactly why I love them. My mission in life is to save them and provide opportunities they otherwise would not get. Anyone can teach the top 10%. I think the real challenge and the real reward is teaching the bottom 10%. When you get the opportunity to build relationships and love-on kids, all kids, God blesses you and I am blessed abundantly.
Dear Lord, I am so thankful for the kids I have in my care at GHS. I am blessed to get to spend time with them, know them, and love on them. You alone, Lord, are the reason for those many blessings. Continue to use me to reach the young people of our community and help them to prepare for the crazy world. I love you! I praise you! Amen!
