Great Prescription!

It “Brothers and sisters, we urge you to warn those who are lazy. Encourage those who are timid. Take tender care of those who are weak. Be patient with everyone.”
1 Thessalonians 5:14 NLT. http://bible.com/116/1th.5.14.nlt

We are in our last couple of days of school. It has been another wonderful year. I ran across this verse last night and thought it fitting for us educators. I think it's important for what it says, but also what it DOESNT say. It is fitting for just about any walk of life. We are to worn the lazy of the natural consequences and yet it doesn't say we arent to support them. We can warn and love at the same time. We are to encourage the timid. It doesn't say we need to change them. Lastly, these verses direct us to be patient with everyone. It doesn't make exceptions. It doesn't say we are to only be patient with the ones we love. It doesn't say to be patient in some circumstances. We need to be patient with everyone.

What a great prescription for life. Encourage , support, honesty, and patience, I think we could all follow these directions for dealing with our family, friends, coworkers, and neighbors. I have tried to follow these precepts with my students throughout this year. I love teaching and I love my students. I can't wait until next year!

Dear Lord, I thank you for this wonderful school year. I have loved every moment. I ask you to protect the graduates as they enter the next phase of their lives. I ask you to make you presence known to them. Give them direction and wisdom as they make decisions about life.  Protect the students as they take time away from school and bring them safely back in August. I love you and praise you for this wonderful life! Amen!
