2 Peter 1 (The Message)
3-4Everything that goes into a life of pleasing God has been miraculously given to us by getting to know, personally and intimately, the One who invited us to God. The best invitation we ever received!
I love the feeling you get when you get a formal invitation. I have been invited to weddings, graduations, birthday parties, anniversary parties, and other special occasions. Every time I receive one of these "Personal" invitations, I get the same feeling of joy. Everyone likes the feeling of being special and important. I know people go to a lot of expense in creating and mailing formal invitations. A special list is made of all those to be invited.(including my name!) The invitations are personally addressed and sent to the invitees. You can't just send them out randomly. You have to think about who gets them and who doesn't. These formal documents are meticulous in their wording. They always use fancy print. They even spell out the day, date and year (October fourteenth, two thousand ten, at nine o'clock) If you were in a hurry and didn't care about the invitee, you wouldn't do this.
Think about the most important event you've ever been invited. Think about the grandest invitation you've received. There is nothing that can ever remotely compare to the invitation you have received from God. You are on the special guest list. God has personally addressed your invitation. The personal signature of God is on your invitation. You are not a random member of the guest list. God has thought about you since the beginning of time. He has written you meticulous instructions in how to get to the event. This wonderful invitation is an invitation to a Grand Mansion, made just for you. This invitation might have a start date and time but the event will last for eternity.
You have been invited to life eternal and you have also been invited to get to know the person who invited you. He longs for you to be with him. All you have to do is RSVP. You need to accept the invitation and you will receive the gift of eternal life. RSVP NOW!
