Exhaustion is the tool of Satan!

But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: (Matthew 6:20 KJV)

While I was working out tonight I listened to one of my favorite pastors -- Chuck Swindoll. I listened for nearly an hour as he gave advice from the Bible on prayer. Toward the end he mentioned something that got my attention. "Exhaustion is the tool of Satan". I know some people get uncomfortable talking about Satan. Many would choose to believe he does not exist. The Bible is clear, he exists. I can certainly verify exhaustion is evil. Tired people do not make good Christians. I know personally because right now I'm tired and not being a good Christian. I know if I just make it until the end of the week I get a short break. God will provide rest and relieve my tiredness. I just hope I don't offend too many people along the way.

Here is another post, it fits my mood:

So, even though I'm tired, grumpy, and not necessarily the best Christian, God loves me. He's not giving up on me. He will continue to do his work in me. He will give me rest and peace so I can continue to do his work. It will be in his time and in his way.

I praise you Lord that I do not have to be perfect for you to love me. I thank you Lord that even though I am far from the person you would have me to be, you will never leave me. I devote my broken life to you and praise you for your mercy and grace! Amen!

Have faith!

“Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. (Mark 11:22 NIV)

It's 1:15am. I just finished a major task for school. I'm whipped. Tomorrow will be a very long day. I have faith God is leading me in the right direction at school, at home, and in all my life. But, when I'm tired I am not a great person to be around. That hurts my witness. I need to turn that over to Christ.

I have given my life to Christ. He is in control. He will get me through, when I'm tired, sick, or down. Praise God!

My aching Body!

Romans 7--  22 For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; 23 but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me. 24 What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? 25 Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in my sinful nature[d] a slave to the law of sin.

My body is getting old. When we have home football games, my body is always so sore on Saturday? Sometimes it even lingers to Sunday! Today is no different. I hauled about 100 cases of pop this week, painted the football field, set-up tents, tables, chairs, and set the sideline tarps, plus all the regular duties of homecoming, volleyball and soccer games. I got up this morning to do a little cleanup at the field and went to watch my grandaughter in her Cross Country Meet. All this PHYSICAL activity has caught up to me and I just had to take a LONG nap this afternoon. I meant to sleep for an hour and slept for 3 hours. (It felt good!) When I finally got up, I could barely move. Every bone in my body aches. I feel like I'm about 70 years old.

As I get older and older this "wretched body" needs some serious rescue. Spiritually, I need the same rescue. My spiritual body is also weak. I constantly fight and weary from the battle over sin. Like Paul I know what I should do, but have a hard time doing it. Praise God that he provides the strength and the healing for my sinful nature. What he did on the cross defeats the sin within me. I am healed through Christ.

It's going to take some time to heal my body. My heart will also be healed, in time, and I will get to spend eternity with my savior. The ultimate healing will be mine.
