Sleepy prayers

Some time later, the LORD spoke to Abram in a vision and said to him, “Do not be afraid, Abram, for I will protect you, and your reward will be great.” But Abram replied, “O Sovereign LORD, what good are all your blessings when I don’t even have a son? Since you’ve given me no children, Eliezer of Damascus, a servant in my household, will inherit all my wealth. (Genesis 15:1-2 NLT)

I love prayer and lately I have increased my prayer time. Like most people prayer, if it happens at all, usually occurs as an after thought. It happens when you get in bed at night and your prayers drift you off to sleep. That has been my prayer life at many times in my life. When I increase my time with God, my life improves. Prayér is a great time to vent with your creator, it's a great time to plead, praise, ask for wisdom, seek guidance, and protection. Just like Abram, God wants honest open conversation. You can disagree. You can express all your feelings, hopes, desires. You can bring it all to the Lord.

Prayer is not just a time of pompous word speak. It is a time to speak to your creator, father, and friend. Their are no special words, formulas, or times that you must pray. You need to pray continuously. Make your life a continual conversation with God. Speak often, through your day, in the morning, in the evening, at lunch, in a meeting, while driving, or at any time. Make a commitment to pray continually and watch the power of God. You will be amazed!

Dear Lord, I love you and treasure the times we have together. I beg your forgiveness for times I ignore you and don't make you part of my daily life. I am sorry for the small amount of time I give you in prayer. You Lord are worth more than a few words as I fall asleep. I praise you for the patience you have with me. I want nothing more than to honor you with my life and service. amen!
