Many will follow their shameful ways and will bring the way of truth into disrepute. In their greed these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping. (2 Peter 2:2, 3 NIV84)
I'm not here to bash men and women who sell used cars. But, their reputation as a profession is not a positive one. It might be because there is quite a bit of room for dishonesty. When you buy a used car you have to rely on what they tell you about it's condition. Trust is so important when you're buying anything used. Sometimes even when you're buying something new, you're not sure about the real quality. I think about infomercials or ebay. They need to paint the best , perfect picture of their product just to get you to buy it. Greed causes people to do and say strange things. Beware of something that sounds to good to be true. If it involves money, it probably is too good to be true.
Is is a wonder that people view the Gospel message with skepticism? It really sounds to good to be true. Here is this man who claims to be God, dying on a cross for your sins, even though you didn't ask him to. He Loves you even though you don't Love him. Regardless how you treat him, how bad you talk about him, or ignore him, he is always there when you look for him. The difference is? What's in it for him? Jesus doesn't ask anything from you. He doesn't want your money. He doesn't have a set of rules you have to follow before you come to him. He get's nothing but your Love. How can you be skeptical about that? This is not a made up story. This is a story of how much God Loves you. This is a story of GRACE. You should learn more about this wonderfully special story and come to know this special man.
